Our Daisy Dolphins Pre-school 1 room accommodates 16 children from 2 years 9 months – 3 years 6 months and is housed in its own building. As children progress, activities are provided to help them meet the targets set out within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The room is arranged with the seven EYFS areas of learning in mind, with plenty of provision still being made for free choice and child-led activities.
Phonics and numbers are incorporated into our everyday life, through activities and circle times, often following each child’s interests. We are encouraged to be independent and learn to self serve our own drinks, meals, make our own sandwiches and prepare snacks. We have our own library where the children are invited to choose a book to take home, return it and choose again.
A PC is used with educational programmes for the children to promote ICT skills. Throughout the year we follow themes and topics for the children, which incorporate planned outings and visitors coming in to talk with them.
We are supported to create our own rules for our room which encourages us to; think about how we like to be treated; make appropriate choices and also develop empathy for our peers.
Note: Shortly after your child’s 3rd birthday, s/he will be entitled to 15 hours Early Education Funding and, possibly, 30 hours if you as a parent/carer are eligible.
